Institution of private law, non-profit, supports projects of research, technological development, teaching and extension of Coppe and other units of UFRJ. It manages contracts and project agreements developed for governmental, private, multilateral entities and private companies, national and foreign.
 
 
Created on March 12, 1993, the Foundation originated in a Coppe department, originally called Coppetec, established in 1970, the year in which the first agreement signed with Furnas Centrais Elétricas was established. Since then, the Foundation has managed more than 13,000 contracts in several technological areas of relevance to society. Currently, more than 600 projects are managed simultaneously by Coppetec.
 
 
Also part of its activities: import of materials and equipment; Management of goods and services; Industrial property management and legal assistance related to obtaining patents; Financial management of the cash flow of projects and payment of suppliers, among others.
 
 
Obeying legal requirements, the Coppetec Foundation is regularly audited by the Curatorship of the Foundations of the State Public Prosecutor's Office and other public oversight bodies. This forces it to be constantly in line with its fiscal, legal and institutional obligations. As a foundation supporting federal university, it is duly accredited by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and the Ministry of Education (MEC).
